er in Business Administration. She is admitted to practice law in Florida and is a member of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, is the Secretary of the National Guardianship Association and President-Elect as of January 2012.
Michelle was appointed by Governor Bush as Executive Director of the Statewide Public Guardianship Office where she was responsible for the oversight of Florida's 15 public guardianship offices serving 20 counties as well the appointing and contracting with existing and potential public guardians. She administered a multi-million dollar budget, was responsible for auditing and monitoring of Florida's public guardian offices and assisted with legislation. She was also responsible for the education and licensure of Florida's professional guardians as well as the implementation of the professional guardian competency examination. As Executive Director of this state program she was required under Florida law to continuously review Florida's Medicaid laws for the purposes of making recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature.
Michelle has participated on numerous state and local committees and workgroups, including Governor Jeb Bush's Blue Ribbon Panel on the Developmentally Disabled, Governor Bush's Workgroup on Guardianship and the Developmentally Disabled, and the Florida Department of Children & Families Select Advisory Panel on Adult Protective Services.
