Jerome Ira Solkoff
JEROME IRA SOLKOFF is “of counsel” to Solkoff Legal and a prominent attorney with more than 30 years in practice and a national expert in the field of elder law. He is an inaugural member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is Certified as an Elder Law Specialist by both the National Elder Law Foundation and The Florida Bar. Solkoff co-founded the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar and served as its Chair (1992-93) and has served on its Board of Directors and Committees. Mr. Solkoff is a member of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He is also a member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar and American Bar Association and some of their respective committees. His two-volume book, Florida Elder Law, published by West Group, since1996, and his National Elder Law Forms Manual are the chief desk references for attorneys and both are updated annually. Since 2007, those books have been coauthored with Scott M. Solkoff, his son.
Mr. Solkoff served as Chairperson of the Elder Law Certification Committee of The Florida Bar, the Elder Law Section’s representative on the Bar’s Committee on Sections as well as having been elected as a member of SCRIBES, a national honorary association of authors on legal topics. He is past president of Broward Homebound Program, Inc., past executive board member of the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Florida Chapter, Inc. and the Center for Group Counseling. In addition, Mr. Solkoff has served as President of the State Alzheimer’s Public Policy Task Force, and in 2003 he was named Advocate of the Year by the Broward County Legal Aid Society.
Mr. Solkoff’s writings, interviews and citations have appeared in legal publications and news media across the country and he frequently lectures on Elder Law and care issues across Florida and nationally.
